What is N-(n-Butyl)thiophosphoric triamide?
N – (n-butyl) thiophosphate triamide (NBPT) is an organic phosphorus compound with the molecular formula SP (NH 2) 2 (NHC 4H 9). NBPT is a white solid and a “high efficiency fertilizer”, which aims to limit the nitrogenous gas released after fertilization. With respect to its chemical structure, the molecule has a tetrahedral phosphorus bonded with sulfur and three amide groups.
N-n-butyl thiophosphoryl triamide (NBPTT) is an active component of nitrogen stabilizer and widely used as urease inhibitor. It can improve the efficiency of urea fertilizer by inhibiting urease activity. After mixed fertilization with urea and urea ammonium nitrate solution, nBPTT can increase plant yield and reduce ammonia loss.
N-(n-Butyl)thiophosphoric triamide Uses
- N-n-butyl thiophosphoryl triamide can be used as an analytical reference standard to quantitatively analyze the analytes in soil samples, milk and tissue extracts by chromatography.
- NBPT is used as an inhibitor of urease. Urease, ubiquitous in soil microorganisms, converts urea into ammonia. If the production rate is faster than the utilization rate of plants, it is easy to volatilize. Approximately 0.5% by weight of NBPT is mixed with urea.
