What is 4-Ketoisophorone?
2,6,6-Trimethyl-2-cyclohexene-1,4-dione, also known as 4-ketoisophorone, is the main component of saffron spice. It is a kind of cycloolefin with woody and moldy sweet taste.
Ketoisophorone (4-Oxoisophorone) is a key intermediate for the synthesis of carotenoids and flavorings. Ketoisophorone is an important industrial cyclic lactone.
Volatile components were reported in saffron and cigarette smoke. It is also reported that it is found in saffron, brandy, black tea, green tea, microbial fermented tea, lemon balsam, cooked shrimp, roasted shrimp, corn oil and lettuce.
4-Ketoisophorone Uses
4-Ketoisophorone can be used to mix amber, citrus, tea and tobacco essence.
4-Ketoisophorone is used to prepare essence for cigarettes and essence for beverages.
