Preparation of Vitamin E
Extraction
The low-carbon alcohol of C1-C4 or the mixture of alcohol and ketone containing (5%-15%) low-carbon ketone of C3-C5 is used as an extracting agent to extract from vegetable oil. For example, add 50 mL of methanol to 100 g of crude palm oil, shake and extract at 45 °C, take the methanol phase to freeze overnight at -10 to -20 °C, filter to remove the precipitated sterols and fatty acid crystals, and distill the mother liquor to remove methanol to obtain vitamin E. Concentrated, the content is 11%.
Esterification
The deodorized distillate in the oil and fat deodorization process is used as a raw material, the fatty acid therein is esterified with a polyhydric alcohol, and the ester is removed by steam distillation to obtain a concentrate.
For example, 1000g soybean oil deodorized distillate (acid value 68.8, saponification value 133, iodine value 152) was added with glycerol with an equivalent acid value of 1.1 times (41.4g), and refluxed with xylene (240°C) until the acid value decreased. To 0.5, after removing the solvent, the esterified product was distilled with steam (at 400Pa), the acid freed in the distillation process was esterified with glycerol, and finally distilled to obtain a concentrate with a content of 56.3% and a yield of 64.8%.

7.8g of 2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone, 6.8g of anhydrous zinc chloride and 1mL of glacial acetic acid were added to a mixed solvent of 20mL of dichloromethane and 5mL of diisopropyl ether, and stirred uniformly at room temperature; 15.6 g of 95% isophytol was added dropwise within 3 h, and then stirred for 30 min after the dropping; after the reaction, the solvent was removed under reduced pressure, and the obtained reddish brown oil was dissolved in 150 mL of hexane, followed by 2% NaOH solution. It was washed with saturated brine, dried with Glauber’s salt, and then the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to obtain 22.1 g of red-orange oily crude tocopherol with a yield of 99% and a purity of 95%.
The crude product was treated with molecular distillation to obtain 18.9 g of colorless oily refined tocopherol, with a yield of 88%. Dissolve 25 g of the above product in 50 mL of acetic anhydride, add 12.5 g of sodium acetate and 1.25 g of sodium metal, and stir at 90-100 °C for 3.5 h. After acetylation, 200 mL of hexane was added for extraction, and the extract was washed successively with 1% NaOH solution, water and saturated brine. After dehydration with magnesium sulfate, hexane was removed to obtain 26.2 g of crude vitamin E acetate. The crude product was vacuum distilled, and the fractions at 165-170°C were collected to obtain 20.5 g of vitamin E acetate with a purity of 97.3% and a distillation yield of 78.0%.
