What is Polymethylene Polyphenyl Polyisocyanate?
Polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate is a polymer of diphenylmethane 4,4 ‘- diisocyanate. It reacts slowly with water to form heavy scum and release carbon dioxide gas. If the container is sealed, dangerous pressure may be generated.
Aniline and formaldehyde were mixed in a molar ratio of 1.6-2.0:1, then hydrochloric acid was added as a condensation catalyst, which was added into the condenser, and reacted at 90-110 ℃ for 30-60min to obtain diphenylmethane 4,4 ‘- diamine and polymethylpolyphenylmethylmethylamine in a certain proportion. PAPI and MDI were obtained after photogasification, separation and purification. Raw material consumption quota: formaldehyde (100%) 150kg/t, aniline 750kg/t, phosgene 850kg/t.
Polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate slowly reacts with water to form heavy scum and release carbon dioxide gas. If the container is sealed, dangerous pressure may be generated. The alkali catalytic reaction of isocyanate with alcohol should be carried out in inert solvent. In the absence of solvents, such reactions often lead to explosive violence.

- Polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate is used to manufacture foam plastics, adhesives, etc.
- Polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate is made use of to make polyurethane products, which is commonly used in the construction industry, vehicle industry, electric market and also other industries as insulation materials or cushions.
- Poly [methylene (polyphenyl isocyanate)] is an engineering polymer, which is used to synthesize flame retardant high elastic polyurethane foam. Environmental toxins in the US EPA Toxic Release Inventory (TRI).
- WANNATE ® PM-200 can provide much better flowability. It is, as a result, specifically suitable for the production which need stringent flowability of systems.
- WANNATE ® PM-200 is a diisocyanate-diphenylmethane( MDI)- based make-up consisting of some higher capability isocyanates. The performance is about 2.6-2.7. It is a brown liquid at ambient temperatures.
- WANNATE ® PM-200 can be widely utilized in the production of inflexible PU foam heat-insulating products; also made use of in isocyanurate foam, paints, adhesives, architectural foam, cellular essential skin foam, vehicle bumper and indoor parts, high-resilience foam as well as artificial timber, and so on.
