What is 4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde?
4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde is one of benzaldehydes with diethylamino substituent at position 4. It has the effect of EC 1.2.1.3 [aldehyde dehydrogenase (NAD (+))] inhibitor. It is a member of benzaldehyde, tertiary amino compounds and aromatic amines.
4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde is a reversible inhibitor of aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDHs) with a Ki of 4 nM for ALDH1. 4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde has potent anti-androgenic effects (IC50= 1.71 μM).
Mix diethylaniline, urotropine and 90% ethanol, heat to reflux, add glacial acetic acid and 90% formic acid, and keep overnight. The reaction solution was poured into pre-cooled hydrochloric acid, filtered, and the crude product was recrystallized from acid-base and ethanol to obtain p-diethylaminobenzaldehyde.
4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde Uses
- 4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde is used as a dye intermediate for the synthesis of cationic dyes.
- Fragrance synthesis. Analytical reagents, organic intermediates.
- 4-Diethylaminobenzaldehyde was used to prepare 5 – (4-diethylamino-benzylidene) – selenazolane-2,4-dione with methylamine aqueous solution as reagent.
