What is 1,4-Diamino-2,3-dihydroanthraquinone?
1,4-diaminoanthraquinone is an anthraquinone-derived dye that is a mixed product of dark purple needles (in pyridine) or purple crystals produced by the combustion of a mixture of red and purple smoke. Soluble in benzene, pyridine, nitrobenzene, aniline, slightly soluble in hot acetic acid and ethanol.
1,4-diamino-2,3-dihydroanthraquinone is an anthraquinone dye used with disperse red 9 in color smoke to introduce violet color. It is also used for dyes and ocean flares.
1,4-Diamino-2,3-dihydroanthraquinone Uses
- Anthraquinone derived dyes. The product of combustion of a mixture of red and purple smoke.
- It is also used for dyes and ocean flares.
- Leuco-1,4-diaminoanthraquinone (leucamine) is an important precursor of 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone.
- Used as an intermediate for synthetic dyes.
