What is 1-Acetyl-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)piperazine?
1-Acetyl-4 – (4-hydroxyphenyl) piperazine (ahpp) is a piperazine derivative and a structural analogue of acetaminophen. The multi-step preparation of bis – (2-chloroethyl) amine hydrochloride and p-aminophenol has been reported.
Piperazine hexahydrate can be condensed with p-nitrochlorobenzene to produce 1 – (4-nitrophenyl) piperazine, and then react with acetic anhydride to obtain 1-acetyl-4 – (4-nitrophenyl) piperazine, which is prepared after nitro reduction, diazotization and hydrolysis.
1-Acetyl-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)piperazine Uses
- Intermediate of ketoconazole.
- It is used for the synthesis of ketoconazole and itraconazole.
- 1-Acetyl-4 – (4-hydroxyphenyl) piperazine can be used to prepare 1-acetyl-4 – (4-octadecanoxyphenyl) piperazine.
- It can also be used in the multi-step synthesis of ketoconazole, its 1,2,4-triazole and thiazole analogues.
